The
School was originally built on this site in 1871 and was a Victorian
Building with a Bell Tower. The design of the new school, in 1973,
reflected that of the Bell Tower, in the pyramid structure of the
roofs above the classrooms.

|
When the
new school opened in 1976, the Bell Tower was kept and placed in
front of the new school by the P. T. A. as a link with the past.

St.
Mary's Lower School caters for children of 4 - 9 years of age
from the village and surrounding areas. As a Voluntary aided school,
we also offer places to children whose parents wish their
children to attend a Church of England School, and so receive an
education consistent with the values and beliefs of the Church of
England.
